Day 14

Selling Meli and Riley's clothes is not near as difficult as I thought it would be (emotionally).

A funny story (at least to me). The first person to respond to our craigslist ad was a woman from Edmond, Oklahoma. She was making a trip down to my area to buy children's clothes and wanted to see what I had. Once here she confirmed my suspicions--she owned a resale shop.

She was not the most respectable person. She spent over an hour in my home, mixing all of the clothes up and leaving about 10 boxes in disarray all over my living room, commenting about how we really didn't have the kinds that she wanted because her clients seem to have a taste for Ralph Lauren...then when she decided to go, she tried to haggle to a HORRIBLY unreasonable price.

The cost was set at $25 per box. She had 3...OVERFLOWING so much that they technically should have been counted as 4. Therefore, at $25 that would have been $100, but I already figured there would be haggling and we would work out a deal. In the end, I said $75. She gave me looks like she was going to get past it...she was pushing for $50. FIFTY?! That was half of the asking price! No way! I'm not that big of a sucker. "Well, it's alright. I hope you get what you're asking for..." she kept saying in a patronizing way, as though I was an idiot that had no idea what I was doing...Brad asked her about $60. She wouldn't budge, so she eventually left still throwing out her, "I hope you get what you're asking for..." bit.

The great part is that the next day we received another responder, from our area (which means, they understood that the cost of living is a bit higher here). And they bought less stuff than that lady tried to weasel from us, and for a higher price than we offered the first! So, yeah, I guess we did get what we were asking for! ;)
