Week 12

I begin this post with a little story...

Last spring, in May, my Silly-Amelia took an odd interest in snow, particularly snowmen. Each night before bed she would tell me a "secret". In her secret she would whisper into my ear, "When it gets wintertime...and it snows...we can go outside and build snowmen??" She was so entertained by snowmen that I vowed "YES, we will get to build snowmen." The issue with that vow was that we live in Texas and I had yet to see a snowfall that stuck here. I figured that either she would give up her interest in snowmen in no time or that I had at least 7 months to figure it out. As fall approached, I began to ponder my vow more and more often. How was I going to make sure that I fulfilled it? Sure we would be spending some time a little farther north where snow stuck for a week or so, but how could I be sure we would be there at the right time? I finally had to consult Brad about it. I stated my case about how Meli wanted so badly to build snowmen and the poor girl had little chance of having enough snow for that unless we traveled elsewhere. A weekend anywhere in Kansas would have made me happy, so long as I was able to give Meli her wish.

Well, after all of that rambling about all of that worry, my story ends by saying that Meli received her wish 3-fold. Not only did she have PLENTY of snow on Christmas morning in Oklahoma, we received snow TWO TIMES in Dallas, and it stuck both times!

Oddly enough, the second time was in March...These pics were from March 21:

Sweet Meli instigating a snowball fight!

Then we have the day after, March 22, a beautiful, sunny Spring day with not a trace of snow...!

And by the end of the week we were jogging outside again. Me with my mini-me, complete with matching ensemble.. :)
