Week 26

Before I start I must warn that this post is picture HEAVY. And very random. :)

Lately, Mr Riley has taken a fascination with volcanoes. We've watched youtube videos of volcano eruptions and found a book with some volcanoes which he opens and just stares at in wonder. Having never had a reason to make my own volcano, I decided that this was as good an opportunity as any. In the end, it was kind of a dud. One weak little stream.
:(

Since I renewed my library card about a month ago and found the new library at Northpark I've become addicted to libraries again. That's good for the wallet...keeps me out of Half-Price Books a little more. I've noticed that each week the stack of books and DVDs has been growing.

This is my current nemesis, but ever since I built my rabbit-fence around my garden he's been no match for me! He still visits my backyard, eating grass and staring longingly at my veggies.

We've been finding a lot of little toads lately. Meli is always willing to hold new little creatures, but Riley is sensitive to touch and can't stand them moving.

I've been training for a 15k at White Rock Lake, so the lake and I have become good friends lately. After an El Chico lunch, I took the kids over to the lake for a walk since the weather wasn't too bad and I want to be as familiar with the lake as possible.

The kids enjoyed running the path. I'm glad that they are able to run more freely here. I don't have to nitpick their direction or how fast they go.

I still remember the first few times we went around the lake. Landmarks are very deceiving. By the time we made it to the red buildings on that opposite side, we just knew we had to be close to the end...maybe 2-3 more miles. We were wrong. :( Those buildings marked about the halfway mark, around 4.65 miles in either direction to get back to our car.

Meli picking on Da-da.

My favorite chair in the house and my favorite little guy.
