Week 40

Of the handful of veggies I tried to grow in my garden this year, it seems that there was only one that thrived, the okra. I breaded and froze it myself, then fried it. Yum. There were some pieces that were a little tough, but overall it was good.

I've been getting a lot of quality one-on-one time with sweet little Meli since Smiley Riley is in school a couple days a week. It's been incredible spending time with her, being able to give her special attention. She seems to be loving it, but one afternoon in the middle of play she randomly told me, "Mommy, I miss Bub. I wish he was here with us." That warmed my heart.

We went to White Rock Lake to find some sticks for a Halloween tree and ended up at an old playground. Seeing that little guy off the ground took my breath away... :( But seeing Meli up didn't bother me at all, perhaps because she's fairly cautious and mature.

The little guy with a silly face. We've noticed that he's full of expression lately.

Brad installed a tire swing in the front yard. The first 2 days in a row it fell off in different ways, so he had to re-evaluate and rehang it. Thankfully, the third time was a charm! :)

Nothing special about this picture, I just think it came out well which is unusual for me. :)

Lately it seems that play between Meli and Riley inevitably erupts into trouble. Meli apparently stole his toy and ran with it. :(
At least they forget quickly and move on. :)

My word of the year this year was "willing". One of the things I listed as "willing" to do was try new foods. I decided to try a butternut squash casserole and realized that I LOVE baked butternut squash! Too bad my family didn't care for it, which means it hasn't appeared in the house since.. :(
