Brad disappointed me on Valentine's. I must admit, I am usually not very "girly" and I don't usually care about gifts and getting mushy or getting very emotional. In spite of this, he usually has some silly little something for me. Whether it's wire hearts strung along our hallway wall (2009), a card made with Photoshop with a picture of use behind a poem that he wrote himself (2005), or even a newspaper clipping with a silly saying that makes me laugh (2010).. I love getting something off-the-wall that makes me laugh or cry. This year I got NOTHIN' on Valentine's Day. In fact, he wasn't even with me. He was finishing some work out of town...and I hoped that he was going to trick me, like he sometimes does, and make it home earlier than he said. It made me feel worse that I dressed up, cleaned up and made his favorite food.
In the end, he spent half the week making it up to me. Taking me out to eat my favorite food, spending more time with the kids to give me breaks, spending time with me and giving me this after-Valentine's Day monster with a note to make me smile.
