Week 30

Brad and I dropped the kids off with my parents early in the week so that we could take our quick trip to Las Vegas. By quick I mean arrive Wednesday, leave Friday. That was plenty of time considering we knew what to expect from our Las Vegas trip 5 years ago. We knew that we wanted to ride scooters and people-watch outside of the Flamingo.

Our hotel on Fremont.

The view from our room. I liked seeing the structure for the canopy of lights just outside of our window.

It's hard to see but this is our favorite people-watching spot, an outdoor bar under the row of flamingos.

Goofing around with the silly necklaces at a street-stand.

One of the exciting things about Las Vegas is you never know what you're going to happen upon. We walked out the door of our hotel and there was a roller-derby tournament smack dab in the middle of Fremont.

THIS is our favorite part of visiting Vegas. Last time we visited we were there for a week and we got tired of walking up and down the strip, waiting for buses... We happened upon a scooter rental place halfway down the strip, so we rented a couple of them that night and buzzed around, checking out all the lights and action, getting where we wanted to go much faster, experiencing it from the open unlike a bus or cab can give you, zipping down to Fremont and even off the strip. We can never convince anyone else that this is actually fun! I guess we're just odd. :)

This time I settled for being the babe on back, haha. We rented one scooter for 24 hours and took off for the pawn shop from Pawn Stars then we made our way to the outskirt of the city. The sudden change from houses and the city to nothing but desert and mountains was amazing!

Our last morning I woke to a beautiful sunrise over that structure I loved so much...

And we woke to our wedding anniversary! I am so thankful to have had this little getaway with the most incredible guy in my life. I love him more today than ever before. (And as an FYI, this was the extent of our luggage--a backpack, a carry-on and my purse. Traveling light was AWESOME.)

And these are just a couple of scrappin' projects I finished to reach my July goal. :)
